Cool language stuff I enjoy!

• In French, "Internet" is usually written without an article, unlike every other noun. E.g.: Rather than "l'Internet est cool", they say "Internet est cool".
• The fact that the Romance languages are descended from Latin is remarkable. Taking the phrase, "Caesar non est supra grammaticos", in French it'd be "Caesar n'est pas sur les grammairiens", in Spanish it'd be (according to Google, I don't speak Spanish but you get the idea) "César no está por encima de los gramáticos."
• Due to the Norman invasion, English very much has French influence. For instance, the French words for meat or animals ("boeuf", "mouton") became English cognates due to the French nobles eating the meat, whereas the Old English words for them ("cu", "scep") became the names of the animals due to the English peasants.
  Additionally, noble scientists in the Middle Ages used Latin to sound smart and gatekeep science; this is what leads to the high number of "Latin" terms in science today.
